Puffin Gannets & North Berwick RFC

The Royal Burgh of North Berwick is a seaside town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, approximately 25 miles east of Edinburgh. Several of the Islands of the Forth near the town host thriving colonies of sea birds. The most famous island being the Bass Rock which is home for many thousands of Puffins and tens of thousands of Gannets.

The town has a great sense of community spirit and North Berwick RFC is one of the main hubs. The club has active teams in senior, youth and mini rugby. The rugby club, at Recreation Park, is where you are most likely to find one or more of the rare Puffin Gannets. These mature members of the club like to give their wisdom and advice to the whippersnappers who play in the numerous teams the club fields. From time to time, the old Puffin Gannets put down their pints and nips, hang up their coats and scarfs, pack up the walking frames and sticks to don the pink and grey shirts, head out to the park and attempt to entertain with their particular brand of Puffin Gannet, Golden Oldie Rugby.

Dear Fellow Golden Oldie

2010 GOLDEN OLDIES RUGBY FESTIVAL - SYDNEY

I am pleased to invite you and your team mates to dust off your boots and join us in Sydney in 2010. The Golden Oldies ethos of Fun, Friendship and Fraternity will be truly evident in Sydney as we host what will be the largest gathering of Rugby Golden Oldies players and supporters in the history of the movement.

There will be a smorgasbord of events surrounding the festival to allow all to be involved, including a City Street Parade, Opening Night Cocktail Party, a picnic and BBQ day in the famous Hunter Valley wine region, the opportunity to attend the Business Expo, and of course the glittering Grand Finale Awards Dinner.

Our playing venue is the historic and beautiful Centennial Parklands, offering an idyllic setting. The Parklands are located in the heart of Sydneys Eastern Suburbs, within a close proximity to Sydneys CBD district. The Parklands can accommodate up to 35 specifically made playing fields, allowing all matches to be played in a single location. A central hospitality Marquee with seating for 2000 plus will be created to provide food, beverage and entertainment where players and partners can cool down and enjoy the international atmosphere.

The 2010 Festival Ambassador is the former Wallaby Captain Mark Ella. Mark will be on hand to welcome you to Sydney and explain the wonderful delights that only Sydney can offer.

It is our endeavour to deliver a Festival of the highest calibre and we welcome all teams to contact us with any enquiries no matter how big or small. We can also assist with pre or post match games, as well as introductions to clubs during your stay in Sydney.

Please find attached our information brochure and please email us at allan@argorugby.com.au with any questions. Please also forward this email to any of your Golden Oldie mates you think may be interested.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sydney in 2010.

Kind Regards

Allan Forno
