I hope you don't mind me plagerising Pauls mail? Good luck against the school, when did the PG's last win the match??
Now, I have another purpose for this mail. As you may know I am very involved in rugby charities and for my sins am now Chairman of Hearts and Balls which is specifically constituted to assist those disadvantaged from the game we love. The charity has grown significantly over the last couple of years and we are closely associated with the Sportsman’s Charity as well. They have a wonderful initiative for a challenge to run, or walk, The Southern Upland Way which starts at St Mary’s Loch and will finish at the Greenyards in Melrose – can I point you at www.heartsandheroes.co.uk for further information?
I would like you to rustle up some support for one or more North Berwick RFC teams to take part in the event which will take place on 16th May 2009 - I have spoken with the Club Captain and am confident he will organise at least one team. Each team needs to pay £300 to enter and although it could arrange that from a suitable sponsor, the main goal is to attain sponsorship for the Challenge to raise significant funds for those not as well off as we are.
Please let me have your thoughts?

SCHOOL FIXTURE - EVELYN ARMSTRONG TROPHY
Guys
I appreciate everyone will be busy in the run up to Christmas but just a note to remind you all of about the annual School fixture this coming Saturday 27TH
Kick off is 2pm at the Club but it would be best if we could all get there no later than 1.30pm.
I would be fitting after the great fun we had at both the Golden Oldies World Cup and the Dinner that we have a really good turnout on Saturday. Its always a good way to run off the Christmas Dinner and please feel free to bring any rugby playing relatives along to play or watch as well.
Perhaps you could also remind any other Gannets you see out and about over the holidays and confirm that you are available.
Merry Christmas and will see you all on Saturday.

Dinner Caption Competition

Dinner - Final Notice!
Puffin Gannets Dinner - Friday 28th November
Final arrangements for the Dinner are now in place and the evening will start at 7-7.30pm with bubbly in the clubhouse.
The evening will be Chaired by Gerry Hughes and I'm sure will flow smoothly with him at the helm !!
The cost will be £30 pp and this will be collected on the night.
The three course meal is being provided by the Nether Abbey and includes 1/2 bottle wine pp. If you have not please let me know your dietary requirements please do so by Wednesday this week.

GOLDEN OLDIES MEETING WITH SRU
We will be attending a Golden Oldies meeting with the SRU on Sun 19th Oct - to discuss the future of Golden Oldies rugby in Scotland following the success of the World Festival.
The tournament itself, future fixtures or festivals in Scotland or indeed future tours etc etc

PUFFIN GANNETS DINNER - FRIDAY 28 NOV
Dear Gannets
Following the resounding success of the Golden Oldies Tournament it was felt that we should try and keep up the momentum in the coming months that was gained through our participation in the event. In addition to hopefully securing a couple of games before Christmas we are proposing to hold a dinner to celebrate our ' Hat-trick of Wins ' on Friday 28th November .
The venue will be North Berwick Rugby Club and partners will be invited along so that we can regale them with all of our heroic efforts !!!! The format for the evening will follow previous Gannets dinners where the will be a three course meal served followed by a couple of speeches ( suggestions for a lady and gent speaker please )
I need to get an indication from you as soon as possible whether you would be available to attend in order that we can decide if we have sufficient numbers. We do need to cover a deficit in the funding for the tournament but the aim is to have a reasonably inexpensive night and having the dinner in the clubhouse will help to support the club.
This will be a great way to celebrate our success in the Tournament so I would be grateful if you could please confirm if possible by close of play tomorrow if you and your wife ,loved one ( male or female or other ! ) , partner, mistress , someone else's wife/partner mistress can attend and I will be able to confirm early next week if we have enough numbers to go ahead.
